Hotel Fridhem Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Fridhem on Sankt Eriksgatan, you immediately get the sense this is one of those places locals actually know about. It’s a three-star property that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — just solid, comfortable, and honestly pretty charming in that understated Swedish way. The building itself has character without being flashy, and there’s something refreshing about a hotel that focuses on getting the basics absolutely right.
The Kungsholmen Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location in Stockholm — you’re on Kungsholmen, which means you get that perfect balance of being close to everything without the tourist chaos. I mean, couples consistently rate this spot a 9.0, and after spending time in the area, I totally get why. You can walk to Gamla Stan in about 15 minutes, but when you want to grab coffee or dinner, you’re surrounded by places where actual Stockholmers hang out. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel that’s hard to find near the main attractions.
Your Room and Comfort
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run Swedish hotel — clean lines, functional design, and everything you need without unnecessary frills. What struck me was how quiet it was, even though you’re on a city street. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase properly. You know what’s nice? The windows are big enough that you get real natural light, which makes a huge difference when you’re dealing with those short winter days. The overall atmosphere feels welcoming and thoughtfully designed.
Breakfast Worth Waking Up For
Honestly, the breakfast here surprised me in the best way. They’ve got this buffet setup that covers pretty much everyone — continental classics, vegetarian options, vegan choices, and even gluten-free items that don’t feel like an afterthought. I watched them restock everything regularly, so nothing sits around getting stale. The coffee is actually good (not always a given at hotels), and there’s this relaxed morning atmosphere where you can take your time without feeling rushed.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something to be said for a hotel that just works without drama. The parking situation is sorted if you’re driving — they have private spots right at the hotel, which is honestly a relief in Stockholm. The staff seems to genuinely care about making your stay smooth rather than just going through the motions. What really sells this place, though, is that combination of location and value — you’re getting a solid base in one of Stockholm’s most livable neighborhoods, with easy access to both the tourist highlights and the real city. It’s the kind of place you’d recommend to friends without any caveats.
Stockholm’s apartments welcome families with courtyard playrooms, ferry passes, and easy tram hops to museums.

Beds are comfortable, only we would prefer one big bed rather than two single beds put together.
Breakfast was good.Ingrida from Lithuania (9/10)
Perfect location, quiet place, nice room. Breakfast was decent, with some options to choose from. We didn’t meet anyone from reception, but the guidelines were clear enough.
Lucia from Slovakia (9/10)
Very close to the metro station and also not that long walk to other very nice parts of the city. It was easy to find, bed was comfortable and breakfast simpler but tasty and everything looked clean. Very quick check-in and check-out process. Ketlle and tea/cofee/milk option in the room was a nice to have too!
Iva from Croatia (9/10)
The hotel was nice, clean, the breakfast was good. The location is excellent, the entrance to the metro is right next to the hotel. It was cold in our room, we informed the reception and they gave us a heater. Good value for money.
