Story Hotel Riddargatan, part of JdV by Hyatt Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Story Hotel Riddargatan, part of JdV by Hyatt, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical chain hotel experience. The lobby has this understated Scandinavian elegance that feels both sophisticated and welcoming — honestly, it’s exactly what you’d hope for from a four-star property in Stockholm. The staff greets you with that perfect Swedish balance of professionalism and warmth, and you can tell right away that they actually care about making your stay memorable.
Location & Neighborhood
The location on Riddargatan is absolutely stellar — I mean, you’re right in the heart of Östermalm, which is probably Stockholm’s most elegant neighborhood. You can walk to Stureplan in about five minutes, and the waterfront is just a short stroll away. What I really love is that you’re close enough to everything that matters but tucked away on a quieter street, so you don’t get the noise from the main shopping areas. The couples who stay here consistently rave about the location, and honestly, I get it — there’s something romantic about wandering these tree-lined streets together.
The Room Experience
The room design is where this place really shines. Each one tells a different story (hence the name, I suppose), with unique artwork and thoughtful details that make you feel like you’re staying somewhere special rather than just another hotel. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the bathrooms have that sleek Scandinavian aesthetic with excellent water pressure — which, let’s be honest, can make or break a hotel stay. The windows are well-insulated too, so despite being in the city center, you’ll sleep peacefully.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast spread here is actually impressive — they’ve got everything from traditional continental options to proper vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices. The buffet setup is well-organized without feeling overwhelming, and if you’re rushing to catch a morning flight or meeting, they’ll pack you a breakfast to go. I particularly appreciate that they use quality ingredients rather than just filling the tables with cheap options. The coffee is proper Swedish strong, which you’ll need if you’re planning to explore the city all day.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both distinctly Swedish and internationally comfortable. You’re getting that authentic Stockholm experience — the design, the neighborhood, the attention to detail — but with the reliability and service standards you’d expect from the Hyatt family. The fact that it consistently scores so highly with couples tells you something about the atmosphere they’ve created here. It’s sophisticated without being stuffy, central without being chaotic, and personal without being intrusive. For a four-star hotel in Stockholm, that’s exactly the balance you want.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Stockholm around Östermalm for food halls, wine bars, and sculpture gardens.
