Walking into Scandic Klara on Slöjdgatan feels like stepping into one of those perfectly curated Scandinavian design magazines — you know, the kind where everything looks effortlessly stylish but actually incredibly thoughtful. This four-star property sits right in Norrmalm, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The lobby has that clean, Nordic aesthetic you’d expect, but there’s something warmer about it than some of the more sterile design hotels I’ve stayed in around Stockholm.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally in the heart of everything, but it doesn’t feel chaotic. Slöjdgatan is this quiet side street that somehow puts you within walking distance of Gamla Stan, the main shopping areas, and the waterfront. I mean, couples consistently rate the location 9.6 out of 10, and after spending a few days here, I totally get why. You can walk to Central Station in about ten minutes, which makes airport transfers pretty painless. The Drottninggatan pedestrian street is right around the corner, so you’ve got that whole shopping and café scene at your doorstep.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had those floor-to-ceiling windows that Stockholm hotels do so well — lots of natural light, which you really appreciate during the shorter winter days. The design is classic Scandic: clean lines, neutral colors, and everything you need without feeling cluttered. The bed was actually really comfortable (sometimes these design-forward places sacrifice comfort for looks, but not here). What I appreciated was the thoughtful storage — there’s enough space to properly unpack even for a longer stay, and the bathroom had decent counter space, which sounds minor but makes a difference when you’re getting ready.

Breakfast & Dining

The buffet breakfast is where Scandic really shows off a bit. It’s not just the usual continental spread — they do this proper Scandinavian breakfast with quality ingredients. Fresh bread, good coffee, and they actually have some local specialties that give you a taste of Swedish breakfast culture. I found myself lingering over coffee longer than usual, partly because the breakfast area has these great views and partly because everything just felt unhurried. There’s no restaurant for dinner, but honestly, with Stockholm’s food scene right outside your door, that’s not really a problem.

What keeps people coming back here is that perfect balance of location and comfort without the premium price tag of some of the high-end properties nearby. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood — they’ll point you toward the good local spots rather than just the obvious tourist places. You’re paying for a solid, well-located base to explore the city, and that’s exactly what you get.   Within walking distance of the main train station as well as many attractions. Plenty of restaurants close by if you don't want to eat at the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and had everything that I needed.

  The location is excellent, close to the city center and station. Breakfast comes in an impressive patio, and I can enjoy it without being afraid of staff moving my plates or belongings. The room is nice and has place for working with a laptop, good wifi. Checking out at 12:00 is really great service these days.

  This is a great location and easy walk from the Central train station. Lovely breakfast with good choice. I had a single room which was small as expected but really comfortable with a great bathroom.
