First Impressions

This four-star hotel sits right on Kungsgatan, one of the city’s main arteries, and you can actually feel the energy of the city the moment you enter the lobby. The building itself has this interesting mix of Scandinavian functionality and urban sophistication that somehow doesn’t feel sterile. You know how some chain hotels can feel anonymous? Well, this one manages to avoid that trap entirely.

Location & Neighborhood

Honestly, the location is pretty much unbeatable — couples consistently rate it 9.4 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You’re in Norrmalm, which means you can walk to Gamla Stan (the old town) in about fifteen minutes, but you’re also surrounded by shopping, restaurants, and that distinctly Stockholm blend of historic and modern. The T-Centralen metro station is practically around the corner, so getting anywhere in the city is effortless. What I really appreciated was being able to grab coffee at one of the local spots on Drottninggatan or duck into NK department store when the Swedish weather decided to be, well, Swedish.

The Room Experience

Mine had these large windows that actually opened (a small miracle in modern hotels), and the view of Kungsgatan below gave me this constant connection to the city’s rhythm. The beds are seriously comfortable — that firm-but-not-too-firm thing that Scandinavian hotels seem to have mastered. Storage space is thoughtfully designed, and the bathroom, while compact, feels well-planned rather than cramped. Little touches like the reading lights and USB ports exactly where you need them show someone actually thought about how people use hotel rooms.

The breakfast buffet is where Scandic Grand Central really shows its Swedish roots — and I mean that in the best possible way. You’ll find all the classics: different types of herring, gravlax, crisp bread, and cheese selections that go way beyond what most hotel buffets offer. But they also cater to international tastes with fresh fruit, yogurt, and hot options that actually taste like someone cares about the food. The coffee is strong and properly Swedish, which honestly made my mornings so much better. The dining area gets busy around 8 AM (typical business hotel rush), but the setup handles crowds well without feeling chaotic.

  I liked the location. Doesn't get much better. I also liked the staff were very friendly. The rooms were big and we had the space we needed and the bed was quite comfortable. So was the bedding and pillows.

  location of the holiday is amazing, within walking distance of all of the activities/things you want to see and do , rooms were lovely and spacious and beds were unreal
