Radisson Blu Royal Viking Hotel, Stockholm Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Radisson Blu Royal Viking Hotel, Stockholm, you immediately sense you’re somewhere that takes itself seriously — but not in a stuffy way. The four-star property sits right on Vasagatan, and I mean right there where all the action happens in Norrmalm. The lobby has this refined Scandinavian feel that’s polished without being intimidating, and honestly, the staff seem genuinely happy to see you rather than just going through the motions.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about Stockholm hotels — location is everything, and this place nailed it. You’re literally steps from Stockholm Central Station, which sounds chaotic but actually works perfectly. I can see why couples rate the location so highly (apparently 9.6 out of 10) because you can walk to Gamla Stan in about fifteen minutes, hit the shopping on Drottninggatan without breaking a sweat, or catch a train to anywhere in Sweden. The neighborhood buzzes with that perfect mix of locals heading to work and tourists figuring out their next move.
The Room Experience
The rooms strike that sweet spot between modern comfort and Scandinavian design sensibility. Nothing feels overdone — clean lines, quality materials, and windows that actually open (you’d be surprised how rare that is). The beds are proper comfortable, not just hotel-comfortable, and the bathrooms have enough space that you’re not doing some weird dance around your luggage. What I appreciated most was the attention to lighting — you know how some hotels make you choose between cave-dark or operating-room bright? Not here.
Breakfast Worth Waking Up For
Swedish hotel breakfasts can be hit or miss, but this buffet setup actually impressed me. They’ve got the continental basics covered, sure, but also proper vegetarian and vegan options that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The gluten-free selection is surprisingly thorough too — I watched the staff carefully explain cross-contamination protocols to a guest, which tells you they take dietary needs seriously. The coffee’s strong enough to wake the dead, and there’s usually some local touches like proper Swedish crispbread and quality fish options.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
There’s something to be said for a hotel that sees more repeat visitors than most others — it means they’re doing the fundamentals right consistently. The private parking is a genuine blessing if you’re driving in Stockholm (trust me on this one), and the whole operation just runs smoothly without feeling corporate or impersonal. It’s the kind of place where business travelers feel comfortable getting work done, couples enjoy the romantic proximity to everything Stockholm offers, and families don’t feel like they’re constantly in someone’s way. You’re paying for reliability and location here, and honestly, in a city like Stockholm, that combination is worth every krona.

Reviews of Radisson Blu Royal Viking Hotel, Stockholm
Christine from Denmark (9/10)
Nice!!! Location is great. It’s just that it smelled like urine near the stairs. And on the side entrance it was kinda dirty in that area with homeless people.
Justina from Lithuania (8/10)
Breakfast is very good. Convenient location in the city, right next to the Arlanda Express stop.
Linda from United Arab Emirates (9/10)
Fantastic location right beside the train station (and the airport train). Had a bit of a struggle with the room – we booked a City View and the first room they gave us looked into someone’s office and a roof so no view at all but was changed when we asked.
Small but comfortable room. Only thing we hate is the tiny European duvets that make you feel like the bed has been short sheeted!
Coffee shop and fish restaurant in the lobby.John from Switzerland (9/10)
Staff very helpful , room comfortable , location optimal
