Radisson Blu Royal Viking Hotel, Stockholm Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Radisson Blu Royal Viking Hotel, Stockholm feels like stepping into a piece of Swedish design history — and I mean that in the best way possible. This four-star property sits right at Vasagatan 1, which honestly couldn’t be more central if they tried. The lobby has this understated Nordic elegance that doesn’t scream for attention but somehow makes you feel instantly at ease. You know what struck me most? The way natural light floods through the windows, creating these beautiful shadows that shift throughout the day.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about Stockholm — location is everything, and this place nailed it. You’re literally steps from Central Station, which means you can hop on the Arlanda Express or catch trains to anywhere in Sweden without breaking a sweat. The shopping district along Drottninggatan is a three-minute walk, and honestly, I found myself wandering over to Gamla Stan (the old town) in about ten minutes on foot. Couples seem to absolutely love this spot — they’ve rated the location 9.6, and after spending time here, I totally get why.
The Room Experience
My room had that classic Scandinavian vibe — clean lines, muted colors, and everything you actually need without unnecessary clutter. The beds are properly comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the blackout curtains work like a charm, which you’ll appreciate during those bright summer nights. What I really appreciated was the attention to detail — good lighting for reading, plenty of outlets where you need them, and a bathroom that feels spacious even when it’s not huge. The views vary depending on which side you’re on, but even the courtyard-facing rooms stay surprisingly quiet.
Breakfast and Dining
The breakfast setup here is actually impressive — they’ve got continental options, but also proper vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices that don’t feel like afterthoughts. I watched them prepare fresh items throughout the morning, so you’re not stuck with food that’s been sitting under heat lamps for hours. The restaurant area gets busy around 8 AM (typical business traveler rush), but if you can swing it earlier or later, you’ll have a much more relaxed experience. They clearly put thought into accommodating different dietary needs, which isn’t always a given at hotels this size.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something to be said for a hotel that draws repeat visitors — and this place has more returning guests than most properties I’ve stayed at. Maybe it’s the reliable quality, or the fact that the staff actually remembers preferences from previous stays. The parking situation is sorted if you’re driving (which many hotels in central Stockholm can’t offer), and the overall experience just feels… dependable. It’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel in the city, but it delivers on the things that matter when you’re exploring Stockholm or here on business. The 8.3 rating feels honest — this is a solid choice that won’t disappoint, especially if you value being right in the heart of everything.

Reviews of Radisson Blu Royal Viking Hotel, Stockholm
Christine from Denmark (9/10)
Nice!!! Location is great. It’s just that it smelled like urine near the stairs. And on the side entrance it was kinda dirty in that area with homeless people.
Justina from Lithuania (8/10)
Breakfast is very good. Convenient location in the city, right next to the Arlanda Express stop.
Linda from United Arab Emirates (9/10)
Fantastic location right beside the train station (and the airport train). Had a bit of a struggle with the room – we booked a City View and the first room they gave us looked into someone’s office and a roof so no view at all but was changed when we asked.
Small but comfortable room. Only thing we hate is the tiny European duvets that make you feel like the bed has been short sheeted!
Coffee shop and fish restaurant in the lobby.John from Switzerland (9/10)
Staff very helpful , room comfortable , location optimal

The comfortable sofas with wall to ceiling glass views in the lounge bar downstair, the high level bar upstairs, the sumptuous breakfasts, the excellent location in the centre.
