You’re maybe a two-minute walk from the Royal Palace, and the narrow alleyways that tourists spend hours trying to find are basically your backyard. The building itself has that authentic Old Town charm without feeling like it’s trying too hard to be quaint.

Here’s what I love about staying in Stockholm‘s Old Town — you can stumble out of bed and be at some of the city’s best attractions before the tour groups arrive. The Nobel Museum is practically next door, and you know what? Those early morning walks through the empty medieval streets are something special. Couples seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 9.6, which honestly makes sense when you’re wandering these romantic cobblestone paths at sunset. The ferry to Djurgården leaves from just down the hill, so getting to Skansen or the Vasa Museum is actually easier from here than from most hotels in the modern parts of the city.

What surprised me about this place is how they’ve managed to fit modern apartment living into these historic walls. Each unit has its own kitchen, which is brilliant when you want to grab fresh ingredients from the little shops in Gamla stan and cook something simple. The room layouts vary — some are cozy (let’s be honest, small), others more spacious, but they all have character. I mean, you’re staying in a building that’s probably older than most countries, so expect thick walls, interesting angles, and windows that look out onto scenes that haven’t changed much in centuries.

Morning Fuel

The breakfast setup here works well — they do continental and buffet style, plus they actually pay attention to gluten-free options, which isn’t always a given in older Stockholm hotels. Nothing fancy, but it’s solid fuel for a day of exploring. What I appreciate is that you can also skip it entirely and make your own breakfast in your apartment — there’s something nice about having coffee while looking out at the medieval streetscape below. The nearby cafés are worth exploring too, especially Café Schweizer just around the corner.

Look, this isn’t the kind of place where you’ll spend much time lounging around the property — and that’s exactly the point. You’re staying here because you want to be in the absolute center of everything that makes Stockholm’s Old Town special. The 8.5 rating reflects what this place does well — it gives you a comfortable, authentic base in an unbeatable location without breaking the bank. Sure, the streets can get touristy during peak hours, but early mornings and evenings? You’ll have some of Europe’s most beautiful medieval streets almost to yourself. That’s worth way more than any fancy lobby.

  The apartment was spacious, the kitchen adequate for some self catered meals. The location could not have been better, being on the edge of the Old Town, adjacent to the Royal Palace and a short walk to attractions in the centre of the modern city. The included breakfast was excellent. The historical character of the hotel buildings made the stay more interesting for us than a more luxurious modern hotel would have been.

  Very comfortable bed and characterful room full of antiques and period features. The breakfast provided in the hotel next door was exceptionally nice. The apartment was wonderfully located right by the Royal Palace and the old town. It was very quiet despite being on a busy road.
