Clarion Collection Hotel Tapetfabriken Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Clarion Collection Hotel Tapetfabriken, you immediately get the sense that this place has stories to tell. The building itself is a converted wallpaper factory — hence the name “Tapetfabriken” — and honestly, they’ve done something pretty special with the industrial heritage here. The lobby feels warm despite the high ceilings and exposed brick, and there’s this nice balance between the building’s history and modern Scandinavian design. You know what I mean — it’s that effortless Swedish style that looks simple but probably cost a fortune to get right.
The Södermalm Advantage
The location on Marcusplatsen is actually brilliant, and I can see why couples rate it so highly. You’re right in the heart of Södermalm, which is honestly my favorite part of Stockholm — it’s got this village-y feel despite being so central. The trendy shops and cafés along Götgatan are just a few minutes’ walk, and you can easily stroll down to the waterfront or catch the metro to Gamla Stan. What’s really nice is that you get the authentic Stockholm neighborhood vibe without feeling like you’re stuck in a tourist bubble. The area comes alive in the evenings, but it’s not rowdy — more like that perfect urban hum.
Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that clean, minimalist Scandinavian aesthetic you’d expect from a four-star hotel in Sweden, but with some nice industrial touches that nod to the building’s past. The beds are seriously comfortable — I mean, Swedes know their way around good sleep, right? What I appreciated most was the attention to practical details: proper lighting for reading, enough outlets where you actually need them, and a bathroom that feels spacious even when it’s not huge. The windows are well-insulated too, which matters when you’re dealing with Stockholm’s winter months.
Breakfast Worth Waking Up For
I’ll be honest — hotel breakfasts can be hit or miss, but this one actually impressed me. The buffet setup covers all the bases with continental options, plus they’re really good about vegetarian and gluten-free choices, which isn’t always a given. The Swedish classics are there (hello, gravlax and crisp bread), but they also do a solid job with international options. I found myself lingering over coffee longer than usual, partly because the breakfast area has this nice morning light, and partly because the coffee was genuinely good — not that weak hotel stuff you sometimes get.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it feels authentically Stockholm without trying too hard. The private parking is a genuine bonus if you’re driving — finding parking in Södermalm can be a nightmare otherwise. But beyond the practical stuff, there’s something about the atmosphere here that just works. Maybe it’s the way they’ve preserved the building’s character, or how the staff seem to actually know the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere with personality, not just checking into another generic hotel room.

Pedro from Portugal (9/10)
I loved the hotel’s overall design and especially enjoyed the common space—perfect for working, relaxing with a cup of coffee, or simply soaking in the atmosphere. The open layout really provided a sense of freedom and comfort. The food was also quite good, offering a variety of options that suited my taste. The staff, for the most part, were quite friendly and helpful. All in all, a pleasant and productive stay.
Vasileios from Greece (9/10)
Excellent hotel about 15 minutes by car from the city's center. The price includes swedish fika, dinner, breakfast and sauna. Polite staff and good meals.

Fenny from Singapore (9/10)
1. The price includes breakfast and dinner. The breakfast has broad selection. It doesn't change the 3 nights we stayed there but with broad selection, I didn't get bored at all! Dinner has tiny selection yet it's healthy and good enough for me.
2. The staff all are polite and friendly. Including receptionist, waiter waitress, the guy behind the bar. Ps. Wanted to thank this guy who gave us generous dinner boxes as we arrived late. Sorry I couldn't finish my food because I was just too tired after the long journeyMehmet from Sweden (9/10)
Check-in & check-out was super smooth, access to parking garage was easy. The environment at the lobby was cool and comfortable, I enjoyed spending time there with a couple of drinks. The breakfast was fantastic; plenty of options and everything I tried was tasty. The dinner was also great, i got a super good fish dish.

Geary from Czech Republic (9/10)
The staff were first class. Hotel is new and well designed. The food was top. Convenient to have a dinner included when traveling with kids. I prefer this one over the other Clarion Stockholm.

The dinner option is really a plus point and decent enough.
Jonas from Lithuania (8/10)
Hotel is in a sort of a trendy neighbourhood with shops and restaurabts nearby. The building is nicely renovated, with lots of space in the ground floor lobby / lounge / restaurant area. Breakfast was brilliant with lots to choose from. Dinners were also nice, mostly. Bar lady was friendly and pleasantly extravagant.
